Default Walleye at Rufus?

Going to give Rufus a try on April 18th, and wondering if anyone has a recent report. I know the river is high, but how's the color and temp?

That seems to be a zipper lipped subject on this board, or there aren't many Walleye fishers. I don't know the water temp and color, but I do know that some friends have been hitting that area off and on since Janurary with moderate success. I know that can be a great area to fish but have only tried it one time last june. I'm told under the bigs bridge is the ticket with the current. Typical Walleye spinner rigs in varing colors is a big key.

Good luck!

I'm interested to know how you do. I would like to try there again this year.

Just talked to a co-worker today that fished it yesterday and did pretty well he said he caught 7 so he probably got 4 or 5  He caught all of his fish by the islands at Preachers Eddie trolling worm harnesses in the Chartous coloration with gold blades. I can't remember how much lead he was using on his bottom walker, maybe an ounce and half? He said he tried jigging in his favorite slot up by the deadline on the WA side and got skunked there. Two fish were hogs, over 21 and both were C and R so their still in there. Good luck.

fished it last Sat. Water temp up now at 46* bite just ok nothing great probabbly average 2 fish per rod per 3-4 hours normal setups worms on rigs or troll rapalas on the bottom. Best seems to be 25'- 35'. Water was to big to fish the Biggs bridge even in my 21' NW Jet. If you wnt to fish there don't put in at Rufus, cross the Biggs bridge into Wa. and put in at Maryhill..Much nicer and closer run... Jack

JD,
Look back a few pages and you'll find walleye reports from the last few weeks. Haven't been up there in a couple weeks but picked up couple under tough, cold front, conditions. Most fish are coming from 20-25ft depths and slow trolled harnesses seem to be the "goto" method.
Good luck and we expect to see a pic of your success.

If it were not for turkey hunting, I'd be up there.
