30/06 into .35 Whalen
I put out a post about the .35 Whalen, someone came back with, Find a good 30/06, have it reamed out to .35.
So if I come a cross a 30/06, would'nt you need to have some work done on the clip, or well the 35 fit??? I don't know.
But I do know if it can be done, Someone out here can or have had this done, any replys welcome.
Thanks Norski

this was a common wildcat for decades, you can buy a barrel, have a gunsmith switch them finish the chamber and your done

Baltz, would a Springfield action work? I have a 1903-a1 some thing like that, but I would rather have the 35, and look for a gunsmith.

springfield action should be perfect. if it is above the correct serial number, and has already been sporterized

Re: 30/06 into .35 Whalen
Norski, the cheapest and easiest way to a 35 Whelen is with a Savage 110 action in 270, 30-06, or similar. The barrels are super easy to switch out and the prices are right.

Re: 30/06 into .35 Whalen
Norski; From shilen website:
Pre-threaded(.010-.015 long chamber)
CrMo $392
SS $474
Actions done;
Rem
Sako
Weath V
Win 70 post64
Ruger/Mauser
Browning Abolt
Anschutz 2007/2013
If they re-barrel;
CrMo $552
SS $634
plus extras peening SS.blueing ect.
I think they chamber 35 Whelen in the #2 contour but it may have to be a heavier contour.
I like mine in .35;; add a Lone Wolf Summit stock for a lwt-wt. rifle. Good luck

If you don't want to do all that, and you have a good 30-06 barrel already, you can have it rechambered for 308 Norma mag. Otherwise it's new barrel time. The Springfield would be excellent.

Re: 30/06 into .35 Whalen
The good news, A guy I sell to in Prineville told me about a guy in Bend who tried to sell his Remington .35 at the gun show, well I just got home and tomorrow I am going to stop and see this rifle, if it's what I am looking for, it well be in my safe.
I just hope it's not all scratched up.
