We hit it hard today and nothing to show for it but a sore arm

Started @ Hein Bank, next we hit a couple of small pinacles, then south to Dallas Bank. The checker had one 55# fish for 8 boats at the Washington park ramp.

Fished for Blackmouth Sat Evening off of Tongue Point, 2 guys 2 fish right at the evening tide change. One about 13# and another about 15#. Sunday Halibut was not real good two of us put 13 hours in the boat on the area 5/6 line in area 6 and had a 34# to show for it. Got up this morning and hit the Blackmouth early nabbed two of them and then we got skunked on the butts, we quit about 11 AM as I had to be to work tonight for a twelve hour shift. Man it is going to be a long night I have been up since 5 AM.

My 35# Halibut-

The Blackmouth I got on Saturday Evening, my buddy got a carbon copy of this one.

The two fish we got this morning.

We fished Dalles bank off of Port Townsend and it was very slow. We fished it hard, from daylight till around 6 that evening. I think the tides were too slow, no movement hardly at all, even motor mooched for part of the time. Heard reports from Hein bank, Partridge bank and Eastern bank, all slow. I heard of a few halibut caught but only saw one in person. This one was caught by a buddy of mine, who had never gone halibut fishing before, I gave him a two hour briefing at 1:30 am the night before and he caught the only halibut I saw, a nice eater, around 35 to 40 pounds.

Killerbee was originally part of my crew, but when Mark had a no show, he became part of Relentless's crew. They fared no better than the rest of us, but we did have a good outing, nice to get a bunch of guys, gals and boats together. And the weather, with the exception of rain was nice.
Did you happen to get out? Going to be a short ocean Salmon season this year I think too.

Steve: Thx for the Bee report..sorry to hear of slow going...I sat on beach with trailer parts (Spindle sleeves) stuck in backorder somewhere in Reno..$%$#@ My fault as builder decided they do not do trailer work anymore and I did not get started sooner. Could have run up on bottom but decided against that, worked on some electronics interface stuff I have always wanted to do - Radar now has Nav data :smile)

...I will hit Can side of Neah in a few weeks

We fished two rods out of Port Angeles for about 4 hours. We fished the FW bay area. No action. Pretty slow on the radio too. Saw two fish at the boat ramp when we got back. Highlight of the day was when a guy dropped his boat on the ramp! Don't forget your saftey chains!!!

Looking forward to more outings this spring although PA is a loong drive.

I fished out of Sequim on Sunday. Fished hard all day for one halibut, 60lbs. This fish came out of 100' of water on Hein bank, away from the armada. The fish took a 24 lead head jig with an orange and white skirt, smothered in herring scent. Three blazing, line peeling runs and a very sore arm and the fish was in the boat. Fun day, calm water and good tides, but tough fishing.

It was a great day to go fishing along some great fishermen and women. Unfortunately the only thing we hooked was a big 'ol sealion that Mark played with for about 15 minutes. A buddy boat from the Sno-King PSA chapter apparently caught the carnage on video. That monster ate Mark's black label herring on 90lb wire off a spreader bar in about 110ft of water. He looked pretty tired when we cut him loose. You should have seen the look on his face! The 9/0 hook had him under his chin. He was fortunate to survive the encounter. We were cautious with him and had fun chasing him for a while so as not to lose too much 65lb spectra.
We got together with some friends for a great BBQ afterwards.....
