Default Alsea bay /Newport bay clamming.

Until I get a chance to make it down to Newport and locate a set of estuary maps, where and what can I look for with success in the way of various clams in Waldport and or Newport area?

Thx.

Razor Clams at the North Jetty and Agate Beach.
Cockles, gapers and butters under the Bridge (South side) and behind the Marine Science center. If you have a boat there are some good spots on the South side of the Embarcadero Breakwater for gapers.

Cool cool, thanks! And yes I have the boat in my siggy. These gapers are obviously hammered during low tide right?
Dad and I are trying to set the day up to clam in the morning at low minus tide, and crab in the afternoon before and during and after slack high tide.

I've seen guys dig really, really, really deep for large gapers in Waldport on the South bank. They just about stand on their heads inside of one of those large metal garbage cans used as a hole form. These guys had beards, which were all gross with the sand, water, seaweed, bugs and whatever else is in that water.

PM sent on another area of Waldport where you can get hand-sized gapers which are a lot easier to dig.

Excellent! Thanks.

Razor clamming still going good at Newport? May have to travel back up that direction early on the way home to bag me a limit of those critters too!

Lets see, go for Gapers Friday morning, Crab that afternoon, and Razors Saturday morning on the way home. Yup that will about do it.

Tides and times look good for April 27-29th down there.
