I was there on Saturday. The lake was 53 in the morning, and hit 57 in the canals by late afternoon, amongst all the thundershowers. When does the crankbait bite on the rocks get going on this lake? Has anyone been doing any good?

And all this time I thought "pitchinboy" played BASEBALL!!!

Just Messin'!!

Roger, I'll give your questions a go (Let me preface this by saying I've been to Silver lake ONCE in the mid '80's!!!).........The are a few bass moving into shallow water as the water warms up in the afternoon, they'll be found on steeper banks, near some cover. If the rocks get some good sunshine give them a go. In the morning fish some of the weed edges that are starting to develop. Oh yeah, if ya find some Bluegill there may be some Bass near by!!

How'd I do?

DISCLAIMER: This in NO WAY was to be mistaken for an actual report. This was my feable attempt at comedy and to point out that Bass are where you find them.

Pitchnboy is obviously not the kind to share his vast and intimate knowledge of the large mouth bass on such a public forum as this. We honor your wisdom.

If such knowledge were to get out, there would be no bass left for the common man. As the self-appointed representative of the common man, I salute and thank you.

Okay lets give someone a bunch of crap for his age. I am 17 and I know i can fish some lakes better than just about anyone. Did you stop to think maybe he fished this lake every-other day his whole life? obviously not. I am not saying he is any exbasssguide because he is a incredibly knowledgeable angler especially on Silver and I doubt anyone knows that lake like him. But if someone is under a certain age do they not know how to fish as well? So guys at 17 am I old enough to know how to fish well. Right now at the pond I fish the bass in the mornings sit on the west end of the pond by submerged logs and in the afternoon they are on the north-east corner sitting on the edge of weedbeds, and then in the evening they are going to the west end by brush and feed on mosquitoes and there Larva very actively. Please no age dicrimination and as a teen i won't tolerate this kind of harassment. We are here to learn and discuss fishing not flame other people, especially for there age.

Sturgeonbait, I understand your point. Age has nothing to do with skills. But there's a difference between arrogance and being experienced/knowledgeable. The main difference is attitude. I think some of the members here are trying to point that out in a sarcastic way This is not a statement pointed at you by the way.

I understand and would agree that there could be some arrogance being targeted here, but some people did use his age like it meant he is to young be a good angler. You should see it if you read up on some of the posts.

hey sturgeonbait, are you supporting me or what are you saying? im not a cocking guy and im willing to share info with anyone. heck, i out fished someguys when i was in my rubber raft. and if you didnt know, during spawning season, bass like or tend to go to or hang out in the west/ northwest location of the body of water you are fishing. the times they are in those locations are morning and mid-afternoon. they LOVE to move up onto the banks on sizzleing hot days.

if anyone needs any help or anything just simply PM and ill be glad to help!

I didn't see pitch say how old he was but as with all internet postings, minors should never disclose their age or other personal information. You can find a lot out and not everyone who reads these posts is interested in fishing if you take my meaning. If you are a minor I strongly urge you to not disclose that publicly. I would also excercise extreme caution toward grown men who enthusiastically, repeatedly, or, without other adults present, take minors they do not already know on fishing trips. Several years of working with sex offenders left me with a whole new awareness of how they operate. Watch it, boys.

Spend some time reading the police blotters and sex offender registries in Portland, Kid. You'll find truth IS very strange. You live in a dangerous city. If you want to act like no one is out to hurt you, go ahead, but you are setting yourself up to be a victim. This is three short years of working for little Clackamas County's Corrections Dept. talking, to say nothing of having worked with people like you often in juvenile detention. Just cuz people fish doesn't make them safe.

Mr. Pichnboy you DO know how to fish! I think you are a fine fisherman. It’s also nice to offer help to other bass fishermen. Thanks!
It just may be that some have been at it longer than you have been alive. I only wish I would have stared bass fishing at your age. Pich I respect you, please do not take my joking seriously. Thanks

Bait is an advertisement to predators to come and get it.

Pitch, there are online safety courses available for young people. Think about taking one.

If churches aren't safe, neither are fishin' chat rooms. I'll grant that chances are ifish is mostly good people, but WHY chance it by revealing your vitals? That goes for all you kids. Don't your parents watch what you are doing online? Good lord.

Hey Pitch. (That means "Hi" not "Get lost".) We think you are great. We all love your enthusiasm for fishing. Don't take any joking criticism seriously. I, like Roger, made a little fun of you earlier in this thread. The reason was because I would have done the same for anyone who was boasting so much about knowing so much. The fact that you are so young made it all the more humerous. Roger, who everyone who has been around here knows, is one of the most knowledgable bass men around, and he has been made fun of (and criticized) a whole lot in the last year for wanting to be helpful to people.

I am 100% sure that you know a WHOLE LOT MORE than me when it comes to bass fishing because I am just a newbie. Soooo, a lot of joking goes on here. Don't take it seriously.

Something you should take seriously is what Pale Rider is trying to tell you. He is obviously expressing real concern for you -- a concern which I share. Be very careful about trusting people that you only know on line. Do not go fishing with anyone you meet here alone. If you want to meet the guys here, go on a "fish in". Stick with the group until you are big enough to really defend yourself (which will be at least 3 years -- unless you weigh 200 pounds). This is not criticism. This is friendly advice from people who care.

Well said Jon AND PaleRider.
All I can say is God have mercy on anyone who would harm one of our Ifish youngsters, because I WOULDN'T and that's a promise. Sexual predators do not deserve to live.

Pitch, we really think you need to educate yourself on online chatroom risks. I personaly admire your enthusiasium in fishing. If only more of our urban youth would pick up a rod rather than other things, life would be much better.

I would be happy to take you fishing up there on Silver Lk. once the big fish bite starts.....or should I say, you take me (I know nothing about Largemouth). Perhaps Roger would join us? and you can show me this pitch'n & flipp'n thing. Been wanting to fish with Roger up there for long time. BUT 1st I'll need to shake your parents hands and we need to have a talk first.
Roger has been wanting to do a Fish In up there for a couple years now, perhaps we should make that happen.
Til then,
Hunt'nFish

That took maturity and guts to say.

Pitch, I dunno where you live and I'm not asking you to tell, but it sounds like you fish Washington.

I grew up exactly where the Chehalis and Newaukum rivers meet, in Chehalis. Every free moment I had was spent on the rivers, from age 11 to 17. I remember thinking "no one knows these rivers like I do", and it probably was true. But there is no end to knowledge. You could grow old and still be scraping the surface in terms of fishing knowledge and wisdom. Any way my point is at your age I was on the river every day. I know a lot of kids can fish well. Some of my classmates read more bass magazines than homework texts. I could tell you what page to find pork rinds on the BPS catalog. I'm sure my grades suffered because of my hobby. Sound familiar? I thought I was good because I could catch fish. But I learned I couldn't catch all the species in those rivers, I only fished with a select set of gear (usually worms, eggs or spinners), had very limited funds (and being able to spend CAN lead to increased catches), and had no teachers. Today I consider myself slightly more knowledgeable than then, but still lack in a number of areas, species, and funds!

Bottom line is there is so much to know, so many ways to apply what you know, and so many people who have been working the angles for freakin' decades (I mean really, really old people like EBG..hahah) that there is just no room in the universe for people who have it ALL figured out. There's a few adults on the Ifish board who have it all figured out, and they get the 3rd degree too. Admitting our lack of talents is a safer way to go. Then we don't get shown up later. You're alright.

Later bro

Everything Pale Rider said.

There is a saying that is true in every area of endeavor (especially when it comes to things that God made):
"The more you know, the more you know you don't know."

The people who are REALLY in the know are usually pretty humble about it, because they know that there is always SO much more to learn.

Someday (when you weigh 200 pounds) we can go fishing together and you can teach me how to pitch and flip.

Keep learning! My
