Default tillamook a day early

I am going down to Tillamook the day before "the bubble" opens. I want to fish the bay on friday. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on whether I should try the coast guard hole and the ghost hole w/ herring or whether I should use spinners on the other side of the bay? Any silvers around? The 16th hopefully will be a good day again this year. Hopefully, not too crazy crowded. thanks

I will be there too, on Friday. I will be fishing the Ghost Hole and Bay City...trolling herring. I will have my special spinners but herring should work this early in the season. I'll be in a green Clackacraft drift boat...with a little boy (catching all the fish)! I'll report.

Ahoy Moleman,

I often work the same water. Regarding your 'special spinners', without divulging all your secrets, could you share some thoughts on spinner selection. It seems so random - green dot blade, white-tip, red-tip, etc. Can you share any advice on color, blade size, or what influences you to use what you do?

Thanks!
Garyk

We don't fish the spinner rigs on our bait up here on the Peninsula....but I would love to try it if somebody will clue me in on the technique.

I believe that spinners work best in 18 feet or under. I use gold (gold plated) or brass or silver with green tape on sunny days. First daylight I like red/white blade. I usually don't start spinners until the first real hard rain.

What beautifull day!!!!!!! Started at the Oyster House around 7:30am. Saw one fish caught at the corner of the sheep corral. Then trolled over to Bay City around 1pm. At 2pm there was a bite for about 20 minutes. Terry Mulkey got 3, Tim Juarez got 2, and I saw about 12 caught in the flurry (all on herring) Only 15 boats. Three of us in my boat, NOTHING.
