Default R.T. As his world turns....

Got a call from R.T. Saturday night from Canada.
He is on his way back..by ferry through the inland passage. (Ooh sounds romantic, R.T.)
He expects to return home tonight to his long lost love, Penny, after a wonderful week of catching many Chinook.
I was not home, but Bill took the call and reports that early in the trip they were hooking so many that their arms stayed tired, however a storm, which raised the river slowed the catch as the week progressed.
Their version of a slow catch was about a half dozen fish the last day. Around here that would be a hot bite.
He will return home tonight or tomorrow A.M.
Will look forward to some more funny fishing stories.
I wonder if they have Emus up there.

Jen

Any body see the headlines in the Cowlitz daily news today:
"Surplus of Emu's reported in the county. Since last week, emu ranchers have reported that their flocks have flourshed without explaination. There is now a major surplus of Emu meat driving down the prices of what ranchers were getting for their flocks. A knowledgeable government official, who wish to remain anonymous, was heard to voice concerns that ranchers will be forced to sell their land if the current trend continues."

Anybody also notice that since RT left, the board has NOT had any prankster leaving dirty or nasty messages...

Is this a coincidence or ??? you be the judge. To the mike on the investigative team, here is a good lead to start from....

RT phone home, Cowlitz county needs you...

Giz...

Geez! One little private joke among fishing buddies and Os spills it and I'm forever an emu lover? How does that work? Oh well, could have been a pig. A related "golden moment" came aboard the "Queen of the North", one of B.C.'s bigger cruise ferries, coming back via the Inside Passage. I sat next to an Aussie and his wife and the discussion got around to their unique animals of Austrailia. And of course he mentioned the emu! I just smiled, I didn't want to explain why (I think he may have thought I was dissing their wildlife?). I'll post a pared down story of the trip in a separate post (it's still quite long; I hope you find it interesting). And thanks Jen. - Steve

As I am still a bit of a greenhorn around here I had to go and find out the whole RT/Emu connection from the archives. Thankfully it was there and for those of you who want to be "in the know" the story can be found here.

While there generally isn't a probelm with people having a love of nature, this might be something entirely different.
