Default Help a new flyfisher on the Clackamas out, if you can

I've been tossing green label Balls o' Fire eggs (okay, I can't spell Pautzke, or however it's spelled) since I was about 7 years old. I finally did the investment and got myself a flyrod and such and have been practicing from time to time.

This Sunday afternoon I'll be either on the way-upper Clackamas or the Collawash trying out my flyfishing skills. If you see my red Escort, then stand well away from me for your own safety.

Any suggestions for good flies this time of year? I recall seeing many of the wooley bear caterpillars up there this time of year, but anything else?

Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

elk-hair caddis, size 12 or 14 - any water, any season ... but take a selection.

Phish-on is on the mark. In that bumpy water I like stuff that really floats like the EH caddis, Kaufmann stimulator in smaller sizes or the Clark Stone, again in smaller sizes (10-14).

I'm sure the 'cutts in the upper reaches will be happy to assist you in your flyfishing practice. I would hope that you'll carefully release all or most of 'em so you can practice with them another day.

Thanks for the EH suggestions fellas. Those cutts...they're mostly in the upper reaches of the Collowash aren't they? To be honest I haven't done much fishing on the Collowash, as I have devoted most all of my time on the Clack. For kicks I may just have to go kicking around up there some...do I stay on the main road, or are there some spur roads that I need to follow up there?

I know, questions questions. But I do enjoy checking out new waters once in awhile...as long as I can find my way back to the car.
