Rage, Just because you don't know doesn't make it a stupid qusetion.

Corkies are slightly off round balls made of cork with a hole through the middle and painted different colors. The come in at least 4 sizes ( I think 5) and used mostly for Steelhead and some Salmon fishing. The primary method is drift fishing. You run the leader from your hook through the hole and attack a swivle on the opposite end, mainline comnnects to the other end, weight is added in a number of different methods. Cast out a drift down, the current keeps the buoyant corkie and hook floating above the bottom and off the rocks. Some fisherpeople push a tooth pick in the hole keeping the corkie next to the hook so it will not slide, this works good in slower current and strong back eddies.

Drop down to your local fishing store and they'll have some corkies to check out.

Hey Hookset thank you very much for the info. I am running down to the Columbia river this weekend to do some salmon fishing with my dad and I am trying to get all the info I can together. From what I understand we will be fishing in a hogline (something I have never experianced before). I am sure I will learn a lot this weekend. Well thanks again and FISH ON!!!!! :-)
