Something I have always wondered
This is a question that has been running in my mind for some time as of late. Fishing in a river (Chinook fishing) in Washington, can a person use a double-hook set-up? There is this guy down on the Cowlitz at the barrier dam that fished like that all of last year with great success. He really sponsors the catch-and-release method, plus he is a great source of fishing knowledge. I really didn't want to ask him if it were legal...LOL I figured it would have been rude ya know..lol It just seems like it's way too easy to snag a King like that, but I guess if you are going to punch your card, providing the king isn't skunktified, then this would be a good method. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Also, I have another question: In a previous post about the # of coho you can keep there, It stated something about fishing a jig for them there. How would I fish a jig for the coho? I've never caught a silver before because I am "green around the gills" to this Pac NW fishing, although I did manage to catch the elusive steelhead, and a King, and a sturgeon so far. Not to mention a bazillion rainbows (lake fishing). I just want to catch a silver, tell a brotha how.

Re: Something I have always wondered
hey_yall, I looked in the Washington Reg's just last weekend to see if it were legal to fish multiple hook set ups, and it is, it states you can only fish one line (obviously), but up 3 hooks.
As for the Coho, if I were you, granted I am not an expert, I would just use Blue Fox spinners, orange and chartreuse seem to be the colors. I hope this helps.

Re: Something I have always wondered
Thanks Freak. I went to the website and used my reader to open up the regulations, etc. I swear it's like you almost have to have been an English major to decifer alot of the wording. I'm not saying I am unintelligent, I just find it a "hard read" so to say. Thanks again for your reply. Man, it has been sitting there an hour and finally someone responded..lol I figured a ton of people would have jumped all over my question(s), especially the silver one. Thanks again. Also, keep in mind, that I will be wading out amongst the combat fisherman, so I think fishing a spinner or a spoon of sorts, would be hard to do wouldn't it?

Re: Something I have always wondered
The man that makes AEROFLYS makes some that have Maribou feathers for tails,he has a charteuse green that should be killer for coho thats not the only color just the one I really want to try.I think you would have to drift fish them tho.I see no reason why they wouldn't hit a jig or a bait of eggs under a bobber if you get it in front of them they'll probaply take it .Give it a try it can't hurt nothing.

Re: Something I have always wondered
At the arrier dam they fish jigs without a float for silvers. They just drift them and sort of jig them a few times each drift. Steelheaders use floats with jigs up there but it seems silvers like a drifted presentation.

Re: Something I have always wondered
If your combat fishing you are right it would be difficult to fish a spinner or spoon. Fish a jig in the same manner as you would fish a jig for steelhead, I do not know a lot about fishing jigs, but basically, just suspend a jig about 3-4 feet below a small dink float. There are numerous posts on the BB about fishing floats just search some and see what they say. Hope this helps.
