Re: fj cruiser
are you asking about the new fj. that was displayed at a big car show somewhere. looked pretty impressive to me. now if it comes with a diesel, they might sell a few.

Was thinking about the new 07 FJ Cruiser. Looked very impressive in the magazine articles. Not sure if I want to buy the first year out, prices will be MSRP plus no discounts.

If it would tow our little 20' open Boulton I would buy one in a heartbeat. Nobody builds 'em like Toyota, Honda and Nissan.

Re: fj cruiser
I have mine on order...
However, I hate the name. If they just stuck with FJ or Land Cruiser that would work. Sounds too much like 'PT Cruiser'.
As far as the FJ, it is under-priced and will hold its resale like a champ. Yeah, the high-compression V6 will need premium fuel, but once again, hard to overlook the value.
I was originally going to get another Tacoma, but decided to deviate from my normal pickup truck route this time. Needless to say I am really looking forward to getting my FJ.

Re: fj cruiser
thumper- at 239 horsepower I bet it would pull your boat just fine. the 21K price tag is a little hard for my budget to swallow but I would buy it If I had the money.

Re: fj cruiser
I saw one on a test drive today, and will be test driving one tomorrow. I talked with a couple dealers and it sounds like a waiting list of 2 months or so. And you cant order one to your specs.
Is this what you found Striper Club?

Re: fj cruiser
Because of reading this I stopped at our local Toyota dealer and they took delivery of one today. I walked all around it and it is a good looking rig.
Good luck!

Re: fj cruiser
Correct. The first allocation will bring about 83 vehicles to 73 or so dealerships in the NW including AK. I am not sure on the second or subsequent allotments. The high demand and low initial numbers will make for tough custom ordering.
From what I am told (I have some Toyota connections), I am pretty much getting what I specified, sans some parts that are dealer-installed or not available yet. I had jumped all over this last year and was able to network with my former dealer (Hamer in Mission Hills, CA), TFS and a couple family members that know local dealers.
I would wait a few months and keep in touch with local dealers. Toyota of Gladstone and Beaverton Toyota seem to be on the ball as far as the FJ, so they would be good people to talk to.
Somehow, this reminds me of a large-scale XBox 360... You can wait, or be ready to do some legwork to find an available vehiicle that has most of what you are looking for.
Good luck!

Re: fj cruiser
I would assume that the engine can run on regular 87 octane since it is the same engine the tacoma has, and it can/mine did. Engine has a knock sensor and automaticly retards the timing to compensate. Don't know for sure but i would bet on it.

Re: fj cruiser
I would think it would. But not sure if its some special rig to require high grade stuff That will limit buying one.
Sharing fuel at Elk camp, will be rough. IF limited to one fuel.

Re: fj cruiser
Well, dang! I really love this rig, but after driving one I cannot believe the poor visibility out of it. Huge front corner posts and a full 15 inches of rear post. You cannot see out of it! What a stupid design. Very disappointed in Toyota. Bummer. I really wanted one.

Re: fj cruiser
I have not set foot inside one.. But, kept hearing the same thing regarding Blocking view.. That would be BAD in city driving. A nasty Auto Crash will happen due to large blind spot. NOT good!!...
Dang.. that is another Nail in the coffin on that one!!. fancy fuel, NO view.. Not much good other then to look cool in the driveway. Not for a working man use in the woods. drats!!!

30 Grand!!! Sheesh! Add a couple thousand to that number and you can buy a late season or year-old Toyota Sequoia, one of the most advanced SUVs ever.
No contest.

Yep...sat down in one at the Sportsman show and I couldn't believe the lack of visibility over the rear corners. Talk about blind spots.

Re: fj cruiser
I just left Ron Tonkin to take my truck in for oil change. Man.... the view is very limited. I think a sherman tank had more of view. Only my opinion. Love the rough and tough attitude. Funny who was all looking at the rig but again only my opinion. What I should of done was ask why one was coming out of the service area.

A friend has one that I rode in. My Chevy Duramax is quieter on the road than that thing. Seems to have a lot of engine noise.
