Re: SALMON RIVER
In tidewater, the majority of people plunk corkies. There is a HUGE amount of sculpins (pogies, bullheads, whatever) in this river, so plunking bait is almost impossible. When the salmon are congregated, the trash fish seem to stay down, so there are quite a few bobber fishermen. However, there's probably $500 in sand shrimp fed to the sculpins for every salmon caught.
Do NOT listen to all those who trash the corky fishermen and say they're just a bunch of snaggers!! Yes, if you jerk at everything you feel, you will snag fish. But it's generally pretty obvious what is a line rub and what's a bite. Most of the fish caught are fair hooked, it's pretty easy to single out those people who are either trying to snag the fish, or really don't have a clue. Be nice, and try to explain the differences to someone who really doen't know.
