Default Salmon/ Steelhead in Lakes

My son and I have been trying to catch stocked Salmon, and Steelhead in a lake. We have been advised to use a jig with clear bobber filled with water. I was wondering if anyone had any tricks up their sleeves that might help my son get one of these babies. We were told they have been caught on worms and power bait as well. We would appreciate any help we could get on this, and we'll let you know if it works!!!

I have heard folks do pretty well fly fishing from boats at Coffenberry!

I think they are using leaches in dark colors.

Good luck...

My kids and I have gotten them tossing spinners or Kastmasters. One year, we got a 32 incher out of E.E. Wilson Pond.

Thanks for the help. Are Kastmaters a name brand lure? I've never heard of them. Tried Rooster tails last trip, and just caught little ones.

Yes, Kastmasters are a brand name lure. It's a flat, thick, tapered spoon. Sometimes you can find generic versions, but the brand name works a little better.

Try a black jig tipped with a shrimp tail under a float. If you can't find sand shrimp, try a crawdad tail or a dime size glob of eggs.
