Default Columbia Chinook are BIG!!!!

I was up on the Klickitat this weekend doing some summer steelhead fishing, and hooked into 2 chinook on back to back casts, lost one at my feet, the other after playing it for about a half an hour, but they were both around 40#'s. I was shocked at the size of these fish, my experience on this river is the chinook are usually in the 25# class. I saw numerous others rol while up there and could not believe how big these fish are this year.

Nice going. How about your steelies though? Where on the Kiickitat were you bank fishing at? I was thinking about taking a road trip there this weekend, and I have never fished there before, so any information would be appreciated. What bait were you using?

Roll Tide...yeah they got blasted on Saturday...poor poor performance.

I was fishing above the Ice House, which is about 14 miles upstream from the mouth. The steelhead fishing left little to be desired, lost one, early Saturday, and that was about it. The river has pretty good bank access throughout. The lower river is a little tough to get to, the river runs through a pretty good size canyon, and the hike down to it is a little tough. I didn't hear about a lot of steelies being caught, up there, but there was a few, the ones that were caught were good size though. I hooked all fish on Sandshrimp.
