Default Unjust diesel prices for tow rigs

I had this brillant idea to buy a diesel rig to pull my sled around. I just love the power-stroke. Trouble is I had no idea they were gonna jack the price up. Saturday I paid $1.79 a gallon. This morning I paid $1.86. Cripes, I am gonna have to pull my boat with my 10 speed. The fuel delivery driver told me that there is a shortage of diesel in the USA. He told me I would probably see $2.00 or more soon!FEAR NO FISH!
Cept Diesel prices and eels.

I have a 99 cummins and get 13 pulling a 22' sled @65-70 mph. Made an egg run up to the Nisqually yesterday with O.Mykiss and got 19.5 empty averaging about 70mph on the hwy. I can get 21 or 22 keeping it between 60 and 65 mph. These diesel prices do suck. I was paying 1.47 here in Albany just a month ago...

Steve,

Just got back from a week long awesome trip home to Eureka, nailed the salmon and rockfish. How are things out at the shad rack? Has the bite picked up yet?

I fueled in Prineville on Friday at $1.91/gallon, OUCH.

POWERSTROKE RULE!! 7.3 liter V-8 -vs- a 5.9 liter straight 6. come-on the math is done for you.

A thing is only worth what people are willing to pay for it! The artificial fuel shortage/price spiral is an outrage! The answer is simple. Fish close to home and stop buying so much fuel. I doubt if the current price spiral would sustain itself if fewer people were willing to pay any price.

My boat stayed home this weekend for this very reason. I have relined my steelhead rod and taken up bank walking again.

Pretty soon now I'm moving the boat to storage in Tillamook. That way I don't have to drag it 200 miles each and every time I want to chase Mr. Spotty Tail. Anymore that is costing $100 for a one day to the coast. I did this last October and saved $400 in fuel costs in just 5 weeks (Yes that includes payment for storage)!

My rig burns gas and only gets 12 when on a tow.

If you are bummed about the price of fuel as I am, think about how to use less of it. If we all used only 25% less, the price would come crashing down.

Think about it! The bend is your friend!

Hook'd, sorry guy, some secrets I won't tell. I invite you to do the same thing I did. I took a day off from work last August (1999) and went to the Tillamook area. I asked anyone who had commercial property and any kind of space with a fence around it. After about 3 or 4 cold calls I got lucky. Contrary to popular belief, Coast people are pretty cool. If approached with the right attitude they can make magic happen. The main thing is don't be a pain in the @$$.

There is a boat dealer in Garibaldi who will store on his lot. I never met him and I don't know what he charges. For me, the issues were

1) Access to the boat at all hours without waking people up or causing other problems.
We start early and quit late!

2) Security (a relative term), locked fenced area, locker for gear stowage.

3) A place to wash up and do boat maintenance.

4) Reasonable price.

Those that live near TB probably know exactly where I'm going. Please don't tell anyone else or I'll have to cut work and move my boat down there today.

Like I said I got lucky. When people say I'm lucky I say that the harder I try the luckier I get! The bend is your friend!
