Buoy 10 Anyone!
For those of you that haven't gave up on Buoy 10 as of yet, here is a report! Sat. morning (daylight) the tide was just starting to ebb, trolled on the Ore. side off of Hammond for two hrs. with no take downs and didn't see a fish caught. We ran over to the Wash. side (church area) and made two slides down to the first wing jetty off of Chinook. We saw two fish caught, and finally we got a take down and boated our first fish at almost slack tide. At that time we saw about a handfull of fish caught around us. We trolled our way to be "on the line" right at 10 for the incoming tide. The SW wind came up and the tide started running in. The nets started flying as there were alot of jacks caught at the begining of the flood. It seemed as after about an 1/2 hr. of catching jacks, everyone started catching coho, and there was a good bite that lasted for most of the tide. There was an excellent rip that ran from west to east, and if you were either in it or next to it you should of done good. Sun. morning I slept in and had a nice warm breakfast, did some chores ect. Put the boat in the water around 1:00 PM ran down to 10 for the begining of the flood. There was a bite that lasted for about 1 hr. and then started to slow. I think every boat had a couple of fish in there box but myself. I didn't see another fish caught for about 20-25 min. So I started trolling towards the yellow can on the Wash. side. After we got over there we got a double, and believe it or not we trolled for about another five min. and got another double. We hung around there for about another hr. and boated one more. We got three or four more take downs but couldn't get them to stick. We should of limited (and we had our chances) but comming off the water with five really nice silvers fishing three rods was just fine with us. By the way, all of the silvers that we caught on both days were really nice fish 7-12 lb. range. Good fishing to you!

Re: Buoy 10 Anyone!
Theres a good report! Thanks Bobber, I have done well myself fishing near where the yellow can used to be on up to Church, I have been waiting to hear of a good bite at Buoy 10. Is this the normal time for the Silver run to peak??
Thanks,
Jim

Re: Buoy 10 Anyone!
Arrived early morning on Sunday, fished sturgeon on the Sands...almost by ourselves. Everybody's given up on this, and shouldn't. While we didn't get a keeper in the 2-1/2 hrs. we fished, there was plenty of action, with one fish being the infamous "41-1/2 inches". Couldn't manage to land any salmon...several takedowns and one strip. Didn't spend much time right out at 10, there was an insane amount of ship traffic (anyone else notice that??) and the boat we were in was a little small for that choppy (boat wakes) water. But, it was an absolutely beautiful day!!!

Does anyone know what the best way to get a reliable and honest fishing report at Buoy 10 is? Who do I call?

Re: Buoy 10 Anyone!
Jim, This is the time you want to spend on the water for the silvers. They are very nice size now, and it can be very productive if you hit it right. This year has been good one day and the next day you go out it seems as though you can't get a take down at all. Like yesturday's evening tide for example, A friend of mine went out at 6:00 PM and fished till dark and slayed them. He's a good friend and I saw the fish this AM (wish I would of been there). He fished till the top of the flood until the tide turned the other way, by that time it was dark when he got off the water. Overall it seems as though the incomming tide has been better this year than the ebb. The last three years it was the other way around. Good going to you...........Bobber

Re: Buoy 10 Anyone!
It's hard to get much better information than you have right here !
You could call the bait shops in the area, (Tackle Time, etc.) but they do have an interest in having you show up ...
The fish are there, it's a matter of timing and luck - that's fishing for you. I would expect the fishing to hold out for another week or two. I've fished that area for more than 20 years, I checked the log books a few days ago -
Go get your own report, I'm going on Monday, maybe I'll run into you. GOOD LUCK !
