80 lb Chinook
Does anyone have any further information on the 80 lb Chinook that was caught in the Columbia last week? I contacted Bob's in Longview and they saw the fish and they confirmed that it weighed as much as it did. I would just like to see a picture. This is a fish of a lifetime and the sight of it should be shared. I don't care about where or what kind of bait he was using. I just want to see this monster. I understand that there was video taken of it as well. If anyone has any information I would appreciate it.

Re: 80 lb Chinook
I'm glad to hear this "fish of a lifetime" is confirmed via the phone, but, how come no pictures??? I fully expected to see this monster in the paper or on the news! Is it a confirmed catch, or just a confirmed rumor?
Just curious as well.......Marty P.

Hard to believe that STS or F&H News wouldn't get ahold of a picture and print it.

Re: 80 lb Chinook
I guess the pics are still in the guys camera.
Bobs should have one soon. It'll be all over when they come out.

Re: 80 lb Chinook
Well something sounds real fishy to me. The Oregonian is reporting the fish that was caught was not measured on an "official scale" and besides that the individual who allegedly caught the fish was "tight lipped" about where it came from. In addition the camera that took the picture was lost accidentily. If it was truly as big as they say, it would shatter records in both WA and OR. Hmmmm.

Re: 80 lb Chinook
Should have started this story with 'this ain't no *****!' Really now, wouldn't you want braggin rights on a 2 state record? I would for sure! If the fisher is out there lurking, post a photo or begone.
The only time a fisher is not lying to you is when you are watching him from a quarter mile away with binos.

Re: 80 lb Chinook
I beginning to think this story is bogus. Went into Bob's Sports two days ago and no picture is in there. The rumor now is the pictures were taken on a disposable camera and the camera mysteriously dissappeared? Total B.S. I think, can anyone confirm this yet?

Re: 80 lb Chinook
I've seen a picture on the web of an 80lb king caught this year, but it's from the Queen Charlottes in BC. Check out www.ariverneversleeps.com under "News" (I think)for the picture.

Re: 80 lb Chinook
According to one of the guys out at Fisherman's at Delta Park he had talked to the guy at Bob's that had actually taken the picture and weighed the fish and that it's legit. The camera was stolen and therefore there are no pictures of this fish.
If the fish existed or not, we'll likely never know. Let's hope it is true in hopes that it is a sign of a healthy ecosystem in the ocean.

Re: 80 lb Chinook
I don't know if this is true or not. But I was told of a 93lbs. 4oz fish caught at the Dalles by Indians in a net. Now that would be nice fish to hang onto on your rods. HS
