Clackamas Coho??
Has anyone seen any of these elusive fish yet? I've heard that they have entered the Clackamas, but I haven't seen one yet!!! I was too late for them last year. I did't get the word until they were spawned out. This year I refuse to miss them. I'm trying again tomorrow. -Jason

Re: Clackamas Coho??
Jason,
You have discovered one of the secrets of the 90/10 rule...10 percent of the people catch 90 percent of the fish. If you persist with the Clack you will have caught a bunch of fish before anyone else has heard about it....example...I got a 28# King and a 14# Silver (both with Sea Lice) yesterday with very little effort out and less success.
Always have fun!
Jim

Re: Clackamas Coho??
It's been my experience, when 500 coho go over Bonneville Dam, then they are at the mouth of Eagle Creek. Check it out.

Re: Clackamas Coho??
If you want to know what I use to NOT catch silvers on the clack than I would say Blue Fox spinners or drift fishin' Corkies & yarn. I am definately the wrong person to ask!!

Re: Clackamas Coho??
Well today there were at least 100 people fishing around the mouth of the clack. What a freakin' zoo. I managed to find a good little drift that only had about 5 people or so. No fish though. Above us was a slot that was elbow to elbow at 6:00 this morning. They however pulled out some fish. It's not worth it to me to combat fish for a silver. Not even a Chinook is worth going through what I saw today. I guess those were the 10% up there. Well they can have it. Can't wait till they get upriver a little more. Maybe the crowd will stay downriver. Yeah right! I guess we'll see after the holiday....

Re: Clackamas Coho??
I use a spinner that I make myself. It's a #4 brass blade, brass or silver body (for weight)and chartruse or pink tubing, on the end extending a size 1 or 1/0 siwash hook. I float from Feldheimers to Barton. I often have done it in total darkness as you want to be at the mouth of Eagle Creek at dawn. Also diver and a little clump of eggs should do the trick. Idon'y think I'll be able to get htere this year as I am headed down to Till Bay in a week! Let us know how it goes.

Re: Clackamas Coho??
There are fish all through the system right now, but I'd focus my energy from the Coffee hole down, there just isn't enough above to target yet. I got 1 over the weekend, if you do enough hunting you can find a hole to yourself, just about every hole will have some fish in it right now. Corkies and yarn are the ticket.

Re: Clackamas Coho??
Hey daylate, I was there until dark tonight above the 99E bridge. My buddy was under the bridge and we only saw fish caught upriver at the "zoo". They were killing them again today. I refuse to fish in those conditions though. Tomorrow I'm venturing upriver.

Re: Clackamas Coho??
We did really well last year just drifting eggs. No corkie, just a thumbnail size cluster of eggs. I am really looking forward to this fishery. Will be there Sat. and Sun. Hopefully it will be as good as last year!

Re: Clackamas Coho??
On Wed. the 6th across from Clackamette
Park, under the 99E bridge there were 100 or
so Coho caught before 9AM. There are more
Coho in the Clackamas right now, than I have
ever seen!! I have been fishing the Clack
for over 30 years. It is not just at the
mouth, but spread all the way up to Carver
at least. Just stop and look down from just
about any bridge and you will see Coho just
milling about. GO OUT & GET YOU SOME !!
