Turkey Calling

I posted earlier about where to buy and what kind of call to get. Well I purchased a beginner kit from Red Head and have a little practice with the box call. The kit came with a box call, a mouth reed, a duck call type and a video. The video is not really a "how to" or does not give instructions. Any recommendations for a how to video??

I got all camoed up and took the box call out for the first time to see if I could either scare them away or get a response. Well I got some response but they were far away gobbles. I am totally hooked. It was very exciting to hear the gobbles. I cannot wait for opening day and hopefully get to see the birds come to my calls. Any advice would be appeciated.

Try to find a cassette or cd that explains the hen sounds and gives examples. Practice a lot to sound just like that. Sounds like you are on your way.

Primos has that "Mastering the Art" DVD. That's what I've got.

I've also read that you don't want to call to them a lot before the season, as that will make them more wary during the season, FWIW.
