Default TREATY

can anyone give me some more info on this treaty? I would like to do some researce on it. What is this treaty and how does it come into play and why only on the west coast? This hole deal is new to me and I dont know to much about it except I feel it is wrong
my cousin was talking to a tribe member from the tribe my blood is from which is outside of Buffalo NY. his responce was that this is a disgrace to the Indian name and against the Indian way of life.
I will hook up with him to give him more details on this matter and it may be possiabe we will have the Indian tribes from back east on our side to stop this mess.
as some of you said there is power in numbers and the Iroquoi Nation is 1 of the largest in the USA so lets get them on our side.
any info will be a great help so I can pass it on and get things going.

Default Re: TREATY

That sounds like a great idea CTS! It might be hard to pull off that kind of support, but it could be very interesting. This is not an anti-Indian issue. It is about non-conformance to Treaties (agreeing to "share fish in common with" - between Indians and non-Indians) and misinterpretation by the Fed. courts (saying that meant to give the minority Indians 50% of all fish deemed harvestable and 50% to all non-Indian fishers, which includes commercial netters). And worse yet, the Fed.s are now giving the Indians even more than what was directed by court ordered decisions on the Treaties. And some Indians are taking more than what has already been unfairly given to them. It's an outrage! - Use our search feature to look up posts on Treaties. Someone posted actual copies of some of the Treaties with NW Tribes. Does anyone remember the name of that post? - RT
