Default Gear Lube cloudy

Hello Motor Techs:
I'm doing a little pre-season maintenance and discovered a potential problem. The first little bit of my gear lube is cloudy. Most of it ran out the right color (although dirty). Should I worry and investigate further?
Its a 2005 Yamaha 115 4-stroke.

thanks,
Jackson

First off, you should always put new washers on the fill and drain plugs when you change your lube. Second, maving just a bit of moisture between changes is normal due to condensation. Third, pull your prop at least one time a year, preferably more and check for fishing line behind the prop and grease the splines. Refill and keep you eye on it. Things can go bad so fast in that department, I check my oil several times a year but not before you go fishing, do it after, the last thing you want on your hands is smelly gear lube.

I assume you mean cloudy like a milk shake. If you didn't use fresh washers and get them tight, or left a pocket of air when changing a little water will get in. Next time change the oil at the end of the season instead of the beginning so you catch trouble sooner.

Your seals or shaft surfaces might be getting a little tired.

All the bits in there are stainless so a little fresh water won't wreck them. If you see salt, more frequent changes are good.

Looks like you got some water in there somehow. I'd take it to the shop.

Thanks for the response guys. Not too worried about line in the prop as I check often and would expect more water in there if one of the seals were bad.
