Default ODFW News Bulletin (08/30/00)

Just read on the ODFW news bulletin page that the tribal nets will be going in above Bonneville for 3-4 days a week and lasting until mid-September.

Good thing that B-10 looks like it will open up to the retention of 'Nookie on 01 September. Got that tidbit from the weekly (weakly) fishing report.

If I could figure AOL out I would paste the article.

here it is

ODFW News Release
For Immediate Release

Date: August 30, 2000
Treaty Indian Commercial Salmon Season Opens
The treaty Indian commercial salmon season opens August 30 at 6:00 a.m. and will continue for three or four days per week until sometime mid-September. The fishery occurs in the main-stem Columbia River from Bonneville Dam upstream to McNary Dam.
Now is a good time for the public to travel to the treaty fishing area and purchase a fresh fish from Native Americans. Treaty fishermen will be selling salmon and steelhead directly to the public at several sites near Cascade Locks and The Dalles. Commercial sturgeon season is closed. Sturgeon may not be sold or purchased.
People purchasing fish should bring coolers to ice down their fish and request a written receipt from the fishermen. Regulations require individuals purchasing fish to possess a written document listing fisherman's name, purchaser's name, number of fish, location, and date.
Oregon and Washington biologists will be in the selling area and may request permission to sample purchased fish to collect biological data such as species, average weight and presence of tags. This data is needed by state and tribal staffs to effectively manage the fishery. Specifically, the amount that may be caught, dates and places of fishing, and estimates of various stocks of salmonids in the catch. Biologists can also answer questions and direct the public to places to purchase fish.
