Default 1999 9.9hp Suzuki dieing at very low speeds

I have a 1999 9.9hp suzuki 4 stroke elect start that will start up fine, idle in neutral just fine, then when I am trying to run it in gear at a very low idle type speed will die. I changed the plugs and it didn't help. I have only had it for about a month and it started just the last couple trips out. It used to run great. Any help is appreciated.

Might want to pull the prop and make sure you don't have some line wrapped up causing drag on the prop. You probably are already aware but just in case... you should do this fairly frequently because line can cut your seals and cause lower unit problems.

If it has line in it, its not from me. I guess anything is possible, I will check that when I get home. Anything else to check you can think of? Could that be caused by a carb that needs cleaned? I should also add that there is steam or possibly smoke coming off of it when I rev it up. It does not do this at idle, and I can't smell it, so I am guessing its steam.

If all else fails, any suggestions on who in the tri cities to bring it to? I really just want it fixed, I am pretty green on this stuff and it is definately frustrating on the water

Thanks,

Mike

Idle mixture screw needs to be turned out a little bit...1/4-1/2 +/-. Just went through this with my Merc 9.9, engine would cycle up and down and finaly die if I tried to go slower. Trolled for 5 hours with it yesterday and it never missed a beat....put-put-put-put all day, dead slow.

They're trying to make these motors so clean running they won't idle real slow because they're running too lean. Be sure and run it in a barrel(with water), in gear as you adjust the mixture and idle speed.
