Default Crabbing from the dock.

Once again I find myself off of work for the week 9/4 through 9/8 and thought I might do a little crabbing from the dock somewhere. Anyone have any suggestions? Have the sea lions taken over that dock in Newport? Lovely creatures aren't they? Anyway any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

We used to crabbed off the Jetty Fishery in Nehalem Bay alot. Pretty good success, and a full store etc right there.

Good luck

Garabaldi has two nice docks for crabbing. One is at the old Coast Guard station, and it has a little store with bait, and other little things. There are some Sea Lions, so I usually use chicken in my rings. The other dock is much smaller and is down the street where the Charters are located. We have had success at both locations. Good Luck

Bigstew, Ever go at night? We used to do this off the dock by the Rogue brewery at south beach marina in Newport. There are sometimes a lot of seals in the bay but they are less of a problem at night. The Marina store has Mink and Nutria carcasses. These make good crab bait and the seals won't touch it. Crabbing at night is fun and there are a lot less people! The bend is your friend!

I agree the best crabbing is at night! It is much more fun too especially trying to measure them by lantern light.
