I see everyone is a little gun shy about talking about Silver Lake. My rule of thumb about Silver is start fishing her as soon as the water temp hits 55 degrees. You can call Bob's in longview for up to date temperatures. As soon as it hits 55 I start firing spinner baits as close to the edges as i can. The bass are starting to come back in better numbers since the grass carp are starting to die off and the weeds are coming back. This time of year start on the north side of the lake and also work all the wood structure. If spinner baits aren't cutting it slow down and throw weightless senco's. If you can catch the temperature on the rise during a sunny day at this time of year, the afternoon would much better fishing. Good luck!

i think i might no the solution to catch some fish guys!!!

Flip jigs and tubes into the heaviest cover you can find like as far as you can get into the lily pads. or go into carnine ditch and flip some. i no they are there but they might not just be in the mood to bite. also, they have to see the baits... but they just dont want it.

The bass are still out in water over 5 feet of depth. Look for log booms and docks with more water under them. We need a few more sunny days to pull them in shallow.

So rob is the 49 deg in the canal by seaquest state park?

Okay I will let you all in on one of my small but good spots in the spring. Head down to sucker creek. On the east bank you will see a small cut with some "red bushes" around the opening to the cut. This is one of the first spots I get the bass when they start moving shallow (if it has been raining hard a day or two before you hit the lake then Skip that spot. But if the sun has been out the day before you hit the lake then you will need to HANG ON!)

I did fish Silver with Joe over a month ago. The water was 40 deg. We got no fish. It should be giving up some fish now!

The way the weather was the last couple of days, I wish I was out there today. I bet at least one or two fish could have been caught today.
