Default Mold trouble ladies and gentlefishers!

Hey all, Mold trouble for me, and this is the first year I've had this boat and of any boat of this size in a long time. I need some help on some mold problems I'm having only on the front portions of my canopy. NOT good...

Help? what can I do to take it ALL away or at least give me some hints to satisfy myself in killing these disgusting molds...uhhhh

Thanks all for the hints and backup...Fish Mode

antibacterial soap and water (dishsoap)

after spray with a solution of about 50-50 vinegar and water
this will help to prevent the mould from returning

I second what PugetPlunker said, or you can dilute a tablespoon of bleach in a gallon of water and use a sponge or rag to apply. Don't just slop it on there though. Make sure you wring-out the sponge/rag, and apply lightly.

We take our canvas top off for the winter and store it in the house for the offseason. During the fishing season if mold starts we deal with it with a household cleaner that contains bleach, then leave it in the sun a couple of days to really dry it out. Canvas is ten years old now and still doing well. Good luck.

Here is a product I saw advertized in "Go Boating" magazine... 'Moldaway' distributed by the company called Yacht Brite Products, (Yachtbrite is the website).

'Moldaway' is touted as an enzyme-based, oxygenating, multipurpose powder that kills mold spores. It is non-toxic and biodegradable powder that is mixed with water. Good for washed down drains and scuppers too.

$12.00 for 12 oz container that makes 4 gallons.

Last winter my sled molded really bad, I had to scrub the inside of the top to get all the blue/green mold out of there.
This winter I used one of those RV dehumidifiers, the unit plugs into 110v power.
What a differance from the last winter, also it smells alot better.

I knew a "mold expect" that sold a product which was mainly iodine in water. It killed the spores quickly without any staining, just a few drops per pint.
