I believe there are over 8,000 Oregon DU members.

Hey...I'm rolling on out to our North Coast DU banquet and fund raiser tomorrow evening. Been a member since the mid '80s and have made nearly every NCDU banquet since then. The walls and tables of my home are proof of this. Even ventured across the coast range and attended a couple other chapter fund raisers in the past. Always good times at any and all DU events.

I have been a silver sponsor for the last 5 years and just a regular member for over 10 years. Im very shocked at the lack of members in Oregon Compaired to the total number of Duck Stamps sold. In Oregon 8,402 members and Around 33k a year Duck stamps sold. In other States there is 65% and higher participation factor in Duck stamps sold verses D.U members. In a few states it is 90% and higher. So whats up with that guys ????????????????????? Why is there such a Huge gap in Oregon????????..Its only $25.00 bucks a year to be a member. Come on Guys lets close the gap Get invloved in a chapter near you. :grin:

yes 8,402 is the depressing number of members, but they do dig deep. with $533,422.00 raised in 2003 only $25.00 was mine, that is also depressing. i will try to do better.

That $500K sounds like a lot but DU spends WAY MORE money on Oregon projects than is raised in this state. I don't have the numbers in front of me but I'll track it down.

it says on my renewal: in oregon, you and your fellow DU members raised $533,422 in 2003------- i take that to mean in oregon DU raised that much.

Cheer Up ol' time DU members! The future is bright here in Oregon...if the trend continues as it has here within our North Coast DU chapter.

Last night's event, (banquet and fund raiser) saw here a boost in "Green Wing" sign-up and attendance from around 45 last year to 77 last night! One report of attendees overall were somewhere over 300 for the event but I believe there was more from my view.

A start time of 5:00pm and the final "door prize" drawing at almost the stroke of midnight, proved to provide a great atmosphere for the entire family. Green Wings were everywhere and they were full of energy even late into the evening when guys like me and many others were fading away.

We tend to say that our children are the future in almost all things. True for DU too. Encourage a youngster to join a local chapter right along with you while you encourage your chapter to fill your event with Green Wing games and prizes. I'm proud of what our chapter organizers do here on the north coast of Oregon to get the next generation involved. Hey...I'm proud to be a DU member, faithful and true for 20 years now. Good organization.

In 2004, DU spent 3.4 million in Oregon, conserving around 3,000 acres.

Thanks ogrejager, that's what I was looking for but you beat me to it. Here's another piece of infomation that might help those of you sitting on the fence. For every dollar raised, DU leverages an additional $19 in matching funds for conservation efforts. Your $1 turns into $20 for the ducks.

Can anyone tell me where they have spent money in Oregon?? Years ago they were going to do something on the sandy river delta but nothing ever happened I was wondering ? I use to be a memeber but I honestly have never seen any of the money go to use so I now give it to OHA instead. Just wondering??

I wish I had a scanner, gottafish. I've got a nifty map of all 80-some sites that DU has spent money on in the state of Oregon. Yes, some you can hunt. Many are either private or refuge land, though. Remember, DU isn't in "business" to make hunting spots, but rather to conserve habitat....

Yeppa thats the way I have always felt also! But thought I would join delta anyway because I do hunt in the midwest at least once a year.
