Default ODFW / WDFW & Chinook quota

So when do they put the bones back in the cup , throw them out on the table again, read the bones and let us have a few more days to fish?

I have no idea how many fish were caught. I do know that nobody counted my brothers or my chinook. Two fish in my immediate family that were not counted at the Hammond dock. I would have to guess the counters do a good job, but they dont get a chance to ask all the boats. I am sure there are those that know if they keep the fish quite, season may last a little longer.

As with most every other sampling program on the Columbia River, as well as countless other systems, the counts are estimates. There is no way, nor is it even feasible, to sample every single boat that fished. The biologist checkers check a percentage of the boats randomly. That means they don't only check boats with fish and inversely they don't only check boats with no fish. The fact that the boat you were on caught two chinook is great for you but does not represent the day as a whole. I for one was shut out, though I did manage to hook an old crab float by Buoy 22, best fight I have had in 10 years!
