Re: Tofino State of MIND
I'm going to Ucluelet in July for 5 nights. Other than that the trip is pretty open. Might fish the east side of the island for a few days too and Port Alberni. Looking forward to the trip.

Jim,
Patty and I really enjoy your photography. How does the fishing compare to Winter Harbor? This looks a lot more comfortable than Winter Harbor. Is there restaurants, shops, and nice accomodations for Patty?
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Tofino State of MIND
I had planned to get up that way this year but it fell through. Maybe next year.... or the year after.... or maybe I'll just look at pics of our marine reserves

I'll be @ Ucluelet 7/29 - 8/2. It would be great to meet up with some other Dogs up there.

Re: Tofino State of MIND
Sweepy, trust me your wife would love Tofino. There's lots of little shops, nice restaurants and good lodging. It's become quite a tourist spot. My wife doesn't like to go fishing with me much but when I go to Tofino she gets interested. The weather is also much tamer for the most part than the North part of the Island. It'll blow but it doesn't blow as hard nor as long usually as the North. You'll have gale warnings a lot for North vancouver island. Much less for the south.

Will be in Uclulet about the same time. Look for the boat "Josie Rose" at Island West marina.

Re: Tofino State of MIND
Next stop Tofino! Winter harbor was a little too rustic for the admiral.
Hoghunter, congrats on hitting 50 posts, and thanks for the report.

Mike: Glad you and Patty enjoy the posts w pics. As Hog and others have said, Tofino is a wonderful destination for a spouse that enjoys boating and fishing but that also likes other things. There are a wide range of places to stay from very hi end hotel/spas to rental condo's B&B's and a few hotels. Def think about booking in advance. rates also change about July01..upward, but I think there is good value at weigh West w free ice, reduced moorage and free freezer/chiller space for fish. I have no business connexion to them, just a happy repeat customer. Suggest you do search on Tofino tourism and see what all goes on. I will post some more pics to help w marketing As to fishing, I agree S of Estevan Pt is more reliable weather..but no assured flatwater. There are inside places to fish at Tofino..depending on when you are there they will range from scrappy to white hot.
Jim
