We are going to the Newport area Sep 23-29th can anybody tell me what fish etc will be in season or a website to go to find out? Thanks...looking forward to our vacation in your beautiful part of the country...thanks for the replies --could not figure out how to reply to posts...never been here before...we would like to fish for Halibut and plan to crab a lot...Should Halibut be good then?

I believe there is a run of salmon in the bay about that time of year(Chinook, Coho can't remember). Fished it once, no luck, primarily spinners over by the big fuel tanks on the North shore. Good time to throw out some crab traps, too. Lots of fun things and good restaurants when your not on the water.

Northriver was right, crabbing has been good lately. There is no coho season this year but there is a good chinook run and a lower bay run this year going to southbeach. There is always bottom fish and they will still be running tuna trips.
have fun
