Default new boat officially on order! ( new pics 4/19 )

Well those of you that did not follow my 4'itis post I put my name on the list for a 26' NR Seahawk O/S about a month ago. Be careful when reading this post as the 'itis is very contagious. Stay as far back from the computer monitor as possible. I emailed greenbutskunk about doing the graphics and the next thing you know he had the biggerboatitis. Hopefully it's not as bad as mine, maybe only a 2'itis.

NR called Thursday to tell me they are getting ready to start construction on my new boat. They wanted to know what exactly they were supposed to be building?

I've had a month to think about it and I needed every minute. Thanks to all the dogs who helped me decide how to outfit the new ride. Like most of you I am not rich and have to work for a living. I was pleased that the boat comes very well equipped and I did not have to add a lot. The criteria for added boat jewelry was that it either had to make the boat safer or it had to help me fish. A no frills fish killing machine.

Aside from the standard options it will be equipped with:
Twin 150HP Yamaha Engines
T8 kicker
welded swim step
6" wrap around stern rail
2x2000gph bilge pumps with auto switches
Yamaha fuel management system for twin outboards
halogen deck lamps
down rigger brackets
scotty electric down riggers
rocket launcher
crab davit
Raymarine C80 electronics package w/ff, radar, gps
Raymarine VHF
Ritchie HB-71 compass
anchor windlass
spare tire and disc brakes on trailer
Boat will have charcoal zolatone top with silver paint on sides

I'll try to get the factory to mail me some pics of the construction to post but I have heard they are pretty secretive.

Just look for the new name on the sides or a silver streak going by you on the way to tuna town . I'll let everyone in on it when I decide. Was going to name it Goin' Coastal since that is what this boat represents. My final step over to the dark side, thanks dogs . But the vote from friends and dogs is favored heavily towards Bigger Liar.

I guess that means that we'll have to have a de-name and re-name ceremony following strict instructions that have been previously posted to appease the salty gods of the deep. We are thinking of "Out of Range". Not so bad as I remember something about polishing off any remaining libations after the ceremony mentioned several times in the instructions.

You know it is difficult to stand far away from the screen when using a laptop computer and after reading the above post I started thinking just for a split second about how that new slab of yours would ride on the big blue. Due only to my incredible self control I was able to replace these thoughts with imagining doing the same on the Big Liar I. But please any more posts and I could loose all self control.

Unfortunately I'm sure I won't be able to turn down a ride on the Big Liar II and that could be it for me. What to do? What to do?

Good for you man I wouldn't be able to sleep until the boat was deliverd.

You're right Scott, I can't sleep. Gonna be a long wait. The old boat sold a lot faster than I wanted it too, thanks guys. Big Liar II, I like it a lot. One more name to throw in the hat. Of course you guys are welcome on board anytime but I can't be responsible for what you may go out and purchase next.

Bigliar,

I have the c-80 as well as the ray54 VHF. I don't know what model of radio you are buying but one feature I'm a little bumbed about is the radio doesn't do DCS back out to the chart plotter. If someone sends me their coordinates they will show up on the radio but I would have to manually put them into the chartplotter. At some point I might replace the Ray54 with a different unit with DSC out. The c-80 only has one NMEA input so if you are going to wire multiple NMEA devices together you will need a $200 multiplexor but this is only if there is more than one "talking" device. If the c-80 is the only talker then you can connect up to 3 listeners. Just to clog your brain with more stuff.

bigliar,
You need to run down to the Roseburg Performance Marine right now! They have your boat in the show room. 26' O/S with twin Yami 150's. I crawled all over it last week when I was in Roseburg for work. Only thing was it was black instead of yellow. They must have made a mistake in the paint shop...

I saw one just like it at the Portland Store! Only it had a stove, sink, fridge, dinette etc. I asked them if this was a camping trailer or a fishing boat?

Having a new boat about to be completed I am going thru all the same things. Hanging out at the factory taking pics. Inability to sleep! Buying too many new toys to go with the new boat. All my gear is rigged and ready to go! Had to pass the time.
For a guy, getting a new boat is like a girl getting ready for her wedding day. It dominates every moment. And a new boat is more important anyway.

Delivery date was originally scheduled for May 15 but they are running about two weeks ahead of schedule. No confirmed delivery date as of yet.

I don't think I'll be able to keep up with Kujo unless I switch to twin 250's and the ocean would have to be pretty flat.

Thanks for all the moral support Dogs! It would be hard being boatless without you. Visited the NR factory today. Quite an operation. Snapped a couple of pics, almost looks like a boat.

I too have 3' itis, I looked at Koffler Bay-Bee Crusader boat's today in Eugene, & was impressed, & almost ordered one...but will wait til I can better afford one...maybe next year? GOOD LUCK! with your new boat.

Bigliar,

I was down in Roseburg today and stopped by the main North River factory and drooled over the O/S Seahawks they had sitting outside. Yours was on the end. Nice looking ride.

I started talking to them about upgrading from my current modle and all of a sudden, the better half remembered another appointment that she had failed to tell me about.

Oh well. Maybe in a couple of years.
