Default Columbia Chinook

I fished yesterday off lower Government Island, only saw 1 fish caught & 2 fish checked at Chinook landing as of 1:30pm. I'm new to the NW is it too early for fall chinook on the Columbia yet? Also I used a Clancy wobbler on a 48" lead and a 12" weight dropper(4oz.) is this the correct set-up,I was fishing in 28ft. deep water is that the depth you want?? Any help would be appreciated.

I've never fished a wobbler in my life but a 12" dropper seems awful short unless you're crankin' it up a reel or two. sal

I agree with stalmonator about dropper length. Last year we caught salmon on eight foot droppers. Our line angle is about 45 degrees, thus we were about four feet off the bottom. The salmon are near the bottom, but not on it. We caught them with Alvins (Brad's).
