Default Hola Amigos

Well we got back from our vacation in mexico.Had a great time---43 days of blue sky-80 something temps - palm trees--really warm ocean, it was great.
The fishing was kinda poor and I wanted to wait until it picked up before I plunked down $60 for a boat ride. Well it was closing in on the end of the trip and I now needed a salt water fix. So off we went.
Now I gotta tell ya this was most likely not the pinical of my fishing expereances but it sure was a hoot.
We trolled all morning really fast---like 10k+ NADA. Then in the distance we could see what looked like a raft. Now in this part of the world, what ever it is creates a shadow and attracts bait fish---and you know. Now we run up to this "raft" and find it's really about 4 tons of rotting whale blubber.
Now it seemed if we stayed on the windward side of this "raft" we were OK, however the guide may have enjoyed the aumbiance of the moment and continued to run on the lee side of the "raft".

Now I don't have the words to discribe what was happening. We had 8 people on the boat---4 of us fishing and the rest just for a boat ride. Two of us were used to the ocean but the rest were really good sports and were willing to chum for us sports guys. That was really nice of these people who we really didn't even know---people are great where ever you go.
Anyway, back to fishing.
The"raft" was a great place to fish, every time we held our breath and ran by it at cruise speed we hooked a Dorado.
Now for those who have never caught a Dorado( mahi mahi ),They strike with a real attitude. Even the smallish ones want to kick butt. ---it was a hoot, even if it was hard to breath.
We had lunch on the beach(one guy screamed for a taxi to go back to the hotel--outta here buckeroo!!!!) We had a great cruise home and left the next day for here.
Miss it already and planning for next year.
However now it's time to kill a salmon or +++++ so, we'll see you Dogs at Illwaco and go forth.
Terry

Welcome back Terry. May is just around the corner and the halibut are starting to gather in our favorite spots. Glad you had a great time down there and look forward to our future Ilwaco adventures.

Terry, sounds like a great trip. A little more stinky than fishing a rip line for silvers, but fish are where they are.
Were you at Cabo, the mainland, or La Paz?

Hey Terry,
Your trip sounds great. We are going to Loreto next month for some yellowtail and cerveza and cactus juice.
We will have to swap some stories down in Ilwackie and like Bernie says, halibut is only a few months away.
