Default Sandz: so how\'d it go Sat??

Sandz,
So how'd it go on the lower Willey Sat?
Almost joined ya, but the clouds and sprinkling rain had me sleeping in Sat morning. So by the time I realized the weatherman lied AGAIN, it was too late. So I worked on getting the yard whipped into shape, so next time I get any flack about what I "should" be doing!

Still a bit early on the water temp, so I think my time was better spent. Will cash in my "Honey Do" chips on a warmer day. Did take a break and snuck over to the Park Pond w/ the kids and threw a little jig'n pig around. No dice though. They still have the water level down too.
Let's see a report,

Well we found alot of active fish, most were out of current like alot of people said. Problem was they wouldnt bite, I got prolly 10 bites all day and all were nips that I tried hooking but no dice. I got plenty of time to practice other techniques though. I threw everything at em that I had and will be back at em in another week or so. Hope the water warms up to 60 in those areas, found water as warm as 55 in some areas.

I'm guessing you mean surface temp? Ten takes, that's pretty good for time of year and conditions. We're usually trying to get that one good bite under these conditions. Good job

Well ya tried anyway. I found lots of fish as well last time I was out, but just couldn't get any to bite. I think there's something off on your temp gauge. Water temp above the falls is near 46F and I suspect the Clack drops it a bit below the falls. I've been watching the online river temp for the Willey and it's actually been dropping! :depressed:
But it's gotta start warming up eventually. This cold front (winter storm) isn't going to help though.
Will keep watching the temps though,

Look up at the top of this page, top/right you'll see a "marine data" tab. Click it and follow the links to the USGS river data. You can customize it to show all sorts of river data. However most of the Columbia data doesn't start showing intil April 1st. Why I don't know.

But here's the customized page I use a lot: Click here: USGS River Stages

The Clack is good for about a 2F drop between the lower willey and above the falls. So right now I take the Newberg temp and work from there. The Tualitain River doesn't drop it any noticable amount, nor does the Yamhill.
Hope that helps. Isn't this internet thing great!!
