Default Bonneville Report

I'm gonna road trip down below the dam to chase some salmon. What is the hot spinner color? What leader length? Dropper length? FEAR NO FISH! Any other tips graciously accepted!

We fished below Bonneville yesterday from my boat. We used wiggle warts, alvin spoons, green dot spinners, and kwik fish - without a bump all day. We did see a guide fishing oversize sturgeon in the fast deep water, and he picked up several large fish while we were there. Don't even think about anchoring in that kind of water unless you know what you're doing and have the right anchor setup. The water registed 69.7 degrees on my depth finder and felt like bath water.

I forgot to tell you, we ran into a couple of guys using radio tracking gear for tagged fish. They were working on their Masters Thesis. According to them, most of the salmon were following the south shore of the river, and hanging off of the points. Hope that helps.

Gonna try and bring this to the top, 'cause the nooks are starting to show below Bonneville. My 10-year-old got a 30 pounder yesterday and his cousin a 25 pounder. The ol' Son of an Okie got a big 0, but hte important stuff got taken care of. Shared the hog line with FEAR NO FISH and ******. No numbers of fish yet, the two we got we the only two bites we got.

I sure had fun fishing below the "A" frame at the rack. I fished from Mon. thru Fri. I had 4 hogs on and landed 2. A 35 lber and a 32 lber. Hooking one of those freight trains has got to be one of the greatest things in the world. It was really nice meeting Son of an Okie and ******. I'll be back next week to catch the trains again. ******, nice job on that 40 lber! See ya Wed.

Say! FEAR NO FISH is the name of my boat. I wasn't trying to copy anyone else but it looks like I may have. This is the fourth summer/fall I've had my boat out fishing the Columbia for Chinooks. I've been out twice(Wednesday and Thursday) and landed three fish. 28, 25 and 12 lb. chinooks. Who else has a boat called FEAR NO FISH? I don't think anyone was talking about me because I fish out of Cinook Landing.

Hi Young Salt,
What kind of boat do you have? I own a 20 ft Harbercraft landing craft. I had Signs by Sue stencil Fear No Fish! on both sides of my boat. Nothing wrong with 2 boats having the same name. It is a cool name! Back to Bonneville Tues. to ride the trains!

Hey guys! Does anyone know what the guide was using for bait for the giant sturgeon? We have always used shad, still kicking if possible. The shad run kinda fizzled this year so we only boated a few peelers. Sure would like to catch some more. Where can I get fresh shad or whatever the guides are using? Thanking you in advance. The bend is your friend!

Pilar,
I saw that one of the guides had been using lamprey eel, whole. I wouldn't want one of those things clamping on to me. Good luck! FEAR NO FISH! Cept maybe those eels!

Steve, I was 'fraid you'd say that. Thanks for the info. The lamprey bite is of no concern to me, it's the smell I hate. Good bait though and the rivers are full of them. Thanks Steve! The bend is your friend!

Save me a spot Steve! Son of Okie's and his
REAL fishing buddy are on the river all this
week. Guess Son of Okie will have to fish someone the rest of the months of the year too in the future, cause I am placing myself
out of the "it ain't August" fishing trip rotation.

Get it touch with me Steve. Will take you
tidewater cork fishing for monsters in the driftboat like I told you about in October.

Don't anchor below Steve and ****** DARN IT!
It was 36 Steve, but that 40 plus would sure have been nice for my Dad, huh FEAR NO FISH?

******,
You da man ******. My daughter and I had one rip but didn't stay hooked up. The water temp sure came up. It really slowed the bite down. Sure hope the water cools down soon. Will be back next week to try again. I have real problems getting skunked. Need to have 3 days counciling now (work). Pretty slow for all the boats around us. Did get to see a fellow wrap his anchor line around his prop. He darn near ran over the guy fishing beside me. He was using one of those tiny danforth anchors. Hopefully he learned a valuable lesson here without getting sunk. FEAR NO FISH!

Ain't it amazing! NOT the place to
practice. Some of the folks obviously
think they are still SHAD fishing the
way they try and anchor below SALMON
hog lines. Give em some room guys. A
big fish is WAY DOWN below before the
rods get in and the anchor is tossed!

Bobber fishing next Steve......
