New member, long time reader of this BB. I have only been fishing for Salmon/SH for about three years so every bit of information is great and much appreciated.

My question. I am floating the Rogue next week for our annual trip but have never fished it. I know that there is a summer run that starts in July and then there are the "1/2 pounders". Has anybody here fished this? What flies or spinners? What water? Fast, slow? etc.... Any help would be great.

Fish the riffles with either small spinners or small streamers/steelhead flies. The 1/2 pounders travel in pods so if you catch one get ready for some action. But you may have to move a bit to find them. A 6 weight fly rod was created for these fish.

Born and raised on the lower Rogue.

Favorite spinner of all time for half pounders? 1/16 oz, black with yellow spots, panther martin. Also, all silver size 2 blue fox.....if you bump up to size 3, be ready for something larger to maybe take a swipe at it.

Haven't heard anything about the half-pounders yet....been too much of a killing on the chinook in the lower bay and ocean for people to talk about steelhead.
