Default .17 HMR

I just bought a .17 in Savage synthetic stock, stainless bull barrel, has anyone had any dealings with the Savage? It has the accu trigger and looks to have fairly good fit and finish, I will take it out and shoot it tommorow hopefully it will be a good rifle.

I have one its great, it will drive nails. I also have a new Marlin that doesnt fire all the time. The fireing pin doesnt hit the rim hard enough to fire the shell all the time. Its getting fixed now so I dont no witch one to keep. Im thinking the Salvage. You will like the Salvage thats for sure.

I don't have any experience with their rimfires but I do with the centerfires.

Some people have trouble adapting to the Accutrigger because of the design. It just doesn't feel right, to some, to depress the AccuRelease before being able to pull the trigger. If this becomes a problem, you can easily change out the trigger for a more conventional aftermarket. Also the Accutriggers are usually maxed out at the factory - so you may need to adjust for the trigger pull #'s.

The only real item to look out for is the stock. The syn stocks have gotten better but they are still a little whippy in the forearm. As a result, if you attach a sling, and use it as a brace, you could cause the stock to touch the barrel from the pulling.

I have the exact same rifle - Savage 93 stainless/synthetic. I was out shooting it this a.m. to see which brand of ammo shot best. Even in a brisk wind it consistently kept 5 Hornady v-max's in .6 of an inch at 100 yards.
