Default Ilwaco ?

I asked this question on another thread but no one seemed to answer so I'l try here.

About 12 years a go my dad and I used to go down to the jetty at Ilwaco to fish for the salmon. Are they still doing this fishery? Like I say it's been a long time but we used a big float,4 to 5 ozs. of lead and a cut plug herring. We just fished off the jetty by the C.G. station. We did real well.

My dad gone now and was thinking of taking my daughter down for a camping trip and just wondering if that's still an option. It was a real good way to introduce me to salmon and I was just wanting to pass it along.

Thanks for the info?

Hi! Just thought that I'd let you know that after you posted about fishing off the north jetty at Ilwaco, I decided to try is as we were going to Astoria on Tuesday (8th) to fish on a charter on the 9th, today! Yesterday we got to the jetty at around 3pm and there were a number (about 15) people fishing with bobbers there. We fished it too, with no luck in the two hours BUT, there was a guy and his wife there that caught a chinook and a coho around 10am in the morning, just as the tide turned to run out. Get this, and this is what makes me crazy,....it was his first time there and also his first time fishing for salmon !!! It was a great experience as we were up close to pelicans and a porpoise that was hanging out there! We are definetly going back there again in a couple of weeks to try again. BUT geeeez, are those bolders hard to get around on or what????
