Re: Tuna Tackle Shopping Tomorrow - need advice
5SF - In the last few years the natural wood color has done well. Choose the lightest wood color, 4" or 6" are both good choices, 10/0 needle eyed hooks are the usual size for cedar plugs, but a size or two smaller is O.K.
The Green feather, "Mexican Flag" in the middle is a popular choice also.
Have fun and save some money for boat gas.

Extra SS hooks for jigs/clones. Extra leader material (fluorocarbon needed?). I'm partial to green-based colors in my spread, simply because for us that's what we've done best on. Do you have enough rod holders mounted on your boat? Do you have a powerful enough fishfinder to pick out a fast-moving fish several hundred feet down? If you find yourself in a school of jumpers do you have a couple of rod/reel combos and some lures suitable for casting to them?

Natural cedar and purple and black in either size but I prefer 6". Wouldn't bother with the rest imo. Not on there but broom tail zucchini. Also not on there but the Yozuri CD-18 type lures. Have had good success with them.

Re: Tuna Tackle Shopping Tomorrow - need advice
Personally, I would get a couple of each - you just never know.
I will be at the Bass Pro shop in Savannah, GA on Sunday - I'm sure my wallet will be just a bit lighter after that trip. Word is, they have a sale this weekend on Penn International reels. I can tell I'm headed for trouble.

Re: Tuna Tackle Shopping Tomorrow - need advice
KW, you're certainly headed for trouble. I was in Florida last year with the family for spring break and drove past the Bass Pro Shop in Orlando. It was my birthday three days later, the wife said "why don't you just go in that place and buy your birthday present." She didn't realize at the time what a mistake that was. Fun stores, tons of stuff. I think you could look all day and not see it all. Have fun.

Re: Tuna Tackle Shopping Tomorrow - need advice
I made out only $400.00 lighter. Almost went off the deep end with outrigger purchase but decided to research more before the leap.
Thanks to all to who replied.
Cheers - 5Salt
If you are ever in Miami, two stops are a must....Capt Harry's Fishing Supply in downtown MIA and
Mango's in Southbeach. For those who have been to Mango's, ju know why.
I can see a Miami winter vacation in my future.
