Re: Surf Boating (video)
All I can say is the skipper knew how to drive except for getting it to that situation it looked like the motor stalled and he got it fired up in the nick of time and hit those breakers the only way possiable to avoid fliping.

Re: Surf Boating (video)
Anyone have the link from a few years ago on this one? It was longer and seemed better quality.
The believe the story was they were doing photo's or video at a surfing competition, and got caught up in that bit heavier series.

Re: Surf Boating (video)
The unfortunate thing about this is a recent case like this (Southern Oregon two weeks ago) cost two lives and we (Coast Guard) lost a helicopter during the rescue. In June '04 we lost another skipper north of Depoe Bay in the surf off the beach. Sometimes in a situation like this, your best option is to drive it up on the beach and live to fish another day. Boat Smart! Boat Safe! R

Re: Surf Boating (video)
I wonder if that is a past member who is to now be unmentioned. Looked like something he'd try.
"Gentleman, I am an excellent swimmer and have traversed the English Channel". "I go across the bar with 10 footers just for practice".
Those boys were darn lucky and beaching the boat may have been the better choice. I was not there so I don't know. Glad they made it out okay.

Re: Surf Boating (video)
No place to be!
I wonder if the guy in the front had any broken bones. It's for sure he had bruises.
Notice how the guy driving got on the high side when they took the wave sideways.
