Am I wrong or are the fish showing a little late this year? Last year seems like the river was full of fish by the 1st of Aug.Seems like they are late everywhere. I have a few zipper lips that I was nailing kings by the last week in july and nothing showin yet.TM

Gotta be a big factor GR! When we partied and also did some fishing last Thru. on the Nisq., there was almost no sign of fish, except a couple rolled down a ways below the Mts. Rd. bridge. Catch of the afternoon was a 3" guppie some guy was sqawking about; gotta tell you something, huh. - RT

Any time there is low water conditions the escapement from the nets is not good. The fish concentrate in the deeper holes waiting for the water to rise and while hiding in safety. Then comes the nets sweeping up all forms of life in the deep hole. This is the most damaging form of netting possible!!! Entire healthy runs can be wiped out in a single set. It gets worse the longer the low water flow continues. Netting should not be allowed during these times at all.
Sad sad sad......

TM,
The netting pressure is the same as it is every year. Sunday noon to Wednesday noon. The tribe started netting at the same time of the year as they have for the last 4 years at least. The fish will be in heavy in about another two weeks, this is usually a good September fishery. A shot o' rain would help this out. Last year they were in early because the river level was higher longer due to the amount of snow run off we had last year. Be patient, they will be here.
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff

I DO NOT allow racial slurs of any kind on this board. The term 'Wagon Burners' is unacceptable here.
Please be forewarned that if IFish fails to remain a friendly place for all, I will shut it down. POOF! Unplugged! I don't do this for free to make enemies.
I am very disheartened by this. I don't care what your feelings towards Native Americans are, but please keep them off the board. This is not the place for that.
There is no wrath like a webmistress ticked.

Mz Board **** has spoken...I agree with her The numbers are down because the water is... I also have friend on the river infact he's a netter we went to Highschool together But we have an understanding he knows how I feel and I respect his needs also but they are not picking up any fish to speak of...yet
I just can't stand to see them net in low water conditions either they set the net and you can watch the bouys dip as it fills with fish ARRRRGGGG it really SUCKS ( can I say that?)
OK back to the topic it's early and we neeed water!!!
Now if we could only keep those Oregon boys away ( RT) things might get better
gunna start my Rain Dance today hope it works

Many are remembering how great it was last year and expect it to be the same or better this year. A couple things suggest to me that it may not quite be as hot as last year. Pt D has had spurts of goodness this year but nothing like last year. I think Nisqually was a big contributor to these in '99. There has been occasional showing of large fish which would be 4 year olds coming off of last year's big run of 3's. This year's 3's may just be average. Yep, it's still early but time is running out for it to be a gangbuster run. Blaming the river net fishery is bogus. When there's a gob of fish around everyone gets a nice piece of the pie. When the fish are few everyone blames the other guy.

Oh brother.....
I just try to keep the peace. Got a couple of letters from people stating that they thought our board was above this. I hope so!
