Default Bait ban for the Olympic Peninsula

Something new for the next round of laws to come to the peninsula rivers, a bait band. Its just rumor of as now but you and we all know that it could happen, we'll keep you posted on anymore news.

But its for all the rivers on the peninsula hopeing that it will cut down on the kill ratio from bait divers and drifting. As of now the native americans are the ones forming the new rules as the game dept follows their suggestion on spawn count for the next years return??? we need a independent study to do a spawn count to match up thier count verse our count. As you know when the Feds close it to everyone, the natives WILL sue the state (you and I) for mismanagment of thier resource and will be payed for our mistakes. As a person once told me that the native americans will be the ones telling us when we can and cant fish when this day comes it will be all over for the sportsman. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---

GR, the Col. Tribal Comm. has been doing that with alarming success in recent times on the Columbia R. I have written to the State comittee that negotiated with the Tribal Comm. and the NMFS over fish allocation, trying to find out just why they have the fed.s so strongly by the balls. We will get some answers from that committee in the near future or from the offices of Gov. Kitzhaber and Sen. Wyden. We deserve to know what the heck is going on here, and on the Oly Pen, and why the all empowering treaties seem to have gained even greater advantages than the infamous questionable Judge Boldt decision gave them so long. If the Indians of the Oly Pen want to ban bait for sportfishing to help reduce the take of fish, GEE, I wonder why they WON'T consider reducing their overall netting of same?!?!? ----- Hey GR, you & Marty let me know if we can still do a trip on an outside Pen river in the next few weeks. Thanks. - Steve

Right you are Eggs. For those that missed the removed post from above, Fishslayer lost it again. He's gone from this BB and he's Gonefishin on Bob's BB. (As soon as I figure out the program steps, which will be soon). - RT

RT - It is to bad you have to get the pooper scooper out once in a while and clean up. Good decision, keep up the good work. BTW nice letter fighting for equal fish rights on the Columbia.
