Default Nehalem Report

HELLOOO !!!,None for me ,I did see lots of fish caught and my daughter lost one and her boyfriend got seasick ,We had great weather
and a great time. Now for the report,We went to the jaws at the start of the incomeing tide and fought grass for at least two hrs couldn't hardly fish there was very few fish caught during this time also.About three hrs into the tide the grass got better and the fishing def. picked up,cus people could keep there bait in the water I guess.About this time tho seasickness hit the boat so we went to calmer water. Not much going on for a couple of hrs( of course) then it started picking up.There was some fish caught by the pillings (some really nice fish) then about an hr. or so later this one boat shows up some guy with his wife and in less then ahr. they landed THREE really nice chinook one about 30 lbs the other two around 20-25lbs
Would not tell there secert,I pleaded with them to no avail .By the way these three fish were caught right in front iof the dock at wheeler. We had awesome weather ,I think its definatly worth the wait to head to the jaws for at least two hrs to give the grass a chance to wash in and get out of the way.Talked to a fish checker and they said this was the best day so far,so its def.picking up.Oh YEA !!,there were lots of silvers being caught and released while we were at the jaws and in front of wheeler,I guess you can't keep them untill 8/15/00 might want to check that date tho.I hope I can get a day off and get back up there in a couple weeks.Anyway its time to get there if you can Good luck

I'm really sick right now, high fever, but this made me smile.
I think it would be GREAT if either during T Ball Fall Chinook or during the Nehalem season you all bring your boats down, park them in the lot, bring tents, R.V.s, whatever, and stay here! We could do a huge barbecue, and have a great time!
Bill says it sounds fun too... Think about it? Good days, etc?

Jennie,

Your idea sounds great!! Count me in. I'd love to bring the boat and live, eat, breath fish all day long and swap stories. Fishing for chinook makes this even better!!!!!!!!

How about we get some dates thrown around to start planning? We also need a name. Maybe.....The 1st IFISH Salmon Campout......or??

thanks for the invite,

hook

Jen, there would be more Chinooks in T-Bay (and out in the "bubble")by about the 3rd week in Sept. and the weather is usually still good. And Labor Day weekend is so crowded! Or the Nehalem fishery should peak about the last weekend in Aug. so that would be great! - OK, the real reason I like before or after is that I am going up to north coast B.C. starting on Labor Day weekend for about a week, and I don't want to miss out on the fun ! If more people are able to go on Labor Day weekend I will catch the next one. - RT

Nope, you are right RT. I like the T bay thing best, because we are a hop skip and a jump from there. Nehalem is a 40 minute run. Lets talk about T bay. Hope it is better than last year!
