Default My bouy 10 question

Question. I just booked a trip with a charter with my roommate for Bouy 10 fishing on Aug 9th. Now Im wondering if I didnt book too early? I only get one chance a year to do this and last year I was really disappointed as the charter from Tackle Time promised me bouy 10 but we never left the Astoria bridge area and got skunked too. Fish were being caught at bouy 10 but our captain didnt want to hassle with the crowds. There were other problems too that I wont go into now. SOOOOOOOO, this time a different charter co. tells me that we will fish bouy 10 or go out on the ocean depending on a few factors.
So, do any of you think I booked a bit too early???? Thanks for the wisdom to those who answer! P.S. I would like to get into some chinooks too, but would take coho.

Default Re: My bouy 10 question

You definitely did the right thing Bev, by booking with another charter. That other trip was not a first rate outfit and most of them are. As for fishing Bouy 10 on the 9th there should be plenty of fish coming in with the tide so you need to check the tide book to make sure that your booked time slot will be during the majority of the incoming tide! Otherwise re-book accordingly to thte Astroria tables. Also ask them if they will go the extra distance to take their clients outside into the ocean a ways if the bite is off near 10. It's been a hot bite out there already! The peak of the Bouy 10 season is more toward the last part of Aug., although this year with a quota on the chinooks you may only be able to keep coho by then, but it should be HOT for those (half million expected up the Col. this year)!!! You should be able to keep the'nooks too on the 9th. Good luck and let us know what their policies are, and how you do out there. - Steve
