Re: Posting Pictures
First, all of you, find out what is available to you through your internet provider. I think AOL gives each person a small amount of space for a web page. Is this right?
Pacifier makes it all simple and wyswyg (What you see is what you get) Other providers, such as harborside make it easy also.
I use a downloadable program called WSFTP. You can get it at Tucows or wherever. It is a file transfer protocol program that is fairly easy to understand.
You need to know your local address of your web space, your user name and password, and your host IP number. This is what you need to ask your provider for.
After that, you just take the pics, from digital cam or have regular film developed on disk, or scan them.... Save them in a compressed form.... such as jpg or gif. I also reduce the color pallette to 8 bit to make them even smaller....and no more than 72 dpi (Dots per inch) Try to make your pictures less than 50 K I prefer around 15k.
Anyway, then you pop them up to your web space through one of the file transfer programs.
There are several freebie web space places, such as ZOOM, geocities, on and on.... They let you have free space and they pop up free advertising banners in trade.
OK.. here comes the easy coding format.
To display an image on this board, you use UBB code. You place the location of the image between two tags.
[img][/img]
[img] means to begin the address of the image.
[/img] means the end of the address of the image
so here is an example: I am going to mispell http to httl so it doesn't disply a broken image.. hope it works.

Go to the faq and find examples of UBB code and scroll down to images for more info on this topic.
Sooo go to your internet provider and find out what you have available. K?
