Hi Kevin. Can you post a little about these tournaments? What kinds of fish? Where are the tournaments? What's involved in being a tournament director and the compensation for such service? Thank you. - Steve

Heck, must be a joke. The MSTFC focuses on bass in the midwest. Maybe they plan to expand to other species. I'd love to pick up a $20,000 cash prize for winning a coho tournament, but can you imagine trying to organize a tournament in the midst of the Buoy 10 fishery? How would 100 competitive boats get in the water and start at the same time? Would they close the Hammond ramp to public use? How would the judges make sure the baits were all cut to the correct size? Would it be a catch and release chinook contest? ...hee hee... Isn't a full fish box adequate prize for most guys? How many guides would give up their 4 paying clients for the chance of being one of the top 5 finishers and actually winning some cash? Face it, the salmon, steelhead and sturgeon most of us fish for are valuable enough that we don't need a contest to motivate a fishery.
