Default place to shoot

needed in Clackamas County or vicinity. I need to sight in a .22 and .17 HMR in the next couple of weeks. probably a 100 yard range would suffice, thanks

Outside of Estacada, past promontory park, there is a little pullout we refer to as the dump.
Also, if you get a Forest Service map, there are some rock quarries at the end of some roads where you can shoot.

Just go find a clear cut or a gravel pit. talk to FS in Estecada on you way through. OR you can head towards the coast and do the same thing. Know any farmers? ask them. have fun.

Yea, the yardage may be a little short for 100 yards, but I would expect that spot to be at least 50-75 yds. Its the spot right next to the river. Once you park, you walk uphill a little. I'm not talking about the spot up memaloose road which is really short.

Up the Molalla river past Dicky prarie. Take a right over the river go about 3 miles and take a left over the river. Steep climb up a hill about a mile and take the first right. About 100 yards on this road is a couple of 100-125 yard gravel piles. Lots of shooting and lots of trash. Last time I was up there someone had even donated a car to shoot at.

They ought to pull the VIN on that car and charge the discourteous and inconsiderate person a fee and a BIG fine for going to get it!

Canby is public those evenings for Trap shooting.

The pistol and rifle ranges are closed to non-members unless they are accompanied by a member at all times.

The Board of Directors is considering having public shooting dates during the summer if they can get enough people to watch over it. Sort of like sight-in days.
