My first steelhead!
I got my very first steelhead today! ( 1/3/04 )
I decided a bit late in the day to head over the pass to my favorite coastal river, we didn't get there until about 1:30 but boy was I glad I made the trip.
I caught this hen on a pink and white jig under a float on my third cast. What a kick, it ran up and down the river, and came totally out of the water right in front of me. After a short but valliant fight I got it up on the bank and gave it a good bonk with a rock my cousin brought over to me. ( I forgot the wood shampoo ). Thanks for all the steelhead tips that have been posted here on ifish and especially to frogpond who gave some on the water pointers last week. [img]graemlins/applause.gif[/img]

Thanks for all the kind comments. I'm definetly hooked now, can't wait for number two, maybe this weekend. Have to decide when we are going to celebrate my daughters first birthday though.

Awesome! I am really glad you got your hooks into one of those pesky little buggers. I am glad you think I helped. That makes me feel good about talking to people on the river.
I wish I would have seen you around the river this weekend. My dad, brother, & I did pretty good too. This past week has been a TON of fun! I am sure we will see each other again soon.
OH, you didn't catch that in MY hole did you? I was wondering why that fish wasn't there Sunday. Congrats!
