Default Columbia Gorge Steelhead

Early morning getup Saturday to take my 12-year-old daughter steelhead fishing. Launched at the Fishery a little after 6 and ran up to the head of Ives Island, just below the green marker. Three take downs on spinners within the first 90 minutes, two found everything but hook. How do they do that when you're using #1 trebels? The third was about a 10 pound, hard fighting, beautiful wild steelhead that lit the daughter's eyes up nicely. Figured to myself, an hour and a half and three take downs already, got the spinner pattern figured out for the day, in the right spot; get ready for a fish fest!! Not to be, sat there between 8 AM and about 5:30 PM with no action. Then the sun came out and Dad finally got to catch one. Guess the cold front shut 'em down. But, we'll be back next weekend! Home made spinners with red beads and copper blades.

Boy Bigfoot, YOU give out a secret!! My,
my old age must be making you nicer. Grin.
Personally, I've NEVER seen you catch
anything, especially with a spinning rod.
(right).
