Re: One last thing about Cheney, then I\'m done
I was wondering the same thing. From the interview he did today with Brit Hume:
Quote:
HUME: And I take it you missed the bird.
CHENEY: I had no idea. You know, you're focused on the bird, but as soon as I fired and saw Harry there, everything else went out of my mind. I don't know whether the bird went down.

Newbies! There's no season on lawyers. And, Ol' Dickey was completely legal to boot, NO TAG REQUIRED!

Now that's funny!! Aren't they in the same genre as skunk, possums, sage rats, yotes? I'd advocate opens season and no bag limit! Shakespear was wrong; 1000 isn't even a drop in the bucket!

Re: One last thing about Cheney, then I\'m done
I'm kind of curious. Why would quail be open in February anyway?

It's Texas. probably a high fence opperation. I wonder if that lawyer was a "Management lawyer" or if Cheney was on a trophy hunt.

Re: One last thing about Cheney, then I\'m done
In the interview with Brite Hume Cheney said they were wild birds. And how would a high fence effect a bird anyway? Couldn't they just fly over it? And what constitutes a trophy for quail?

Re: One last thing about Cheney, then I\'m done
I think "high fence" is simply a term for enclosed or canned hunting...

Press Release
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department issued a statement today saying Vice President Cheney broke no law by shooting a lawyer instead
of a quail over the weekend. A spokesman noted that lawyers are not considered game creatures, and are thus not subject to season limitations or bag limit.
It was further noted that lawyer hunting was
encouraged as the state is overrun with the pesky creatures. A local food critic said contrary to rumor lawyers do not taste like chicken, but rather like bovine dung which is a major component of their composition.

Re: One last thing about Cheney, then I\'m done
"NEW TEXAS LAW
WASHINGTON, D.C. - A white house source stated that Congress is considering awarding Vice-President Dick Cheney the Medal of Freedom, the national highest civilian commendation, for his act of bravery in shooting an attorney.
The source was quoted to say " All Americans have wanted to shoot a lawyer at one time or another and Cheney actually had the balls to do it".
In a related story, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, which issues hunting licenses, said that it will start requiring hunters, wishing to bag a lawyer, to have the new "lawyer's stamp" on their hunting license. Currently Texas hunters are required to carry stamps for hunting birds, deer, and bear, at a cost of $7 annually. The new "lawyers stamp" will cost $100, but open season will
be all year long.
The department further stated that although the "lawyers stamp" comes at hefty price, sales have been brisk and it is believed it will generate annual revenues in excess of $3 billion dollars the first year. Other states are considering similar hunting license stamps."

I hope Oregon comes out with a Tourist Stamp... There is already a Tourist Season. But I've never drawn a tag.
